Responsible for planning and design execution of NC State’s $2B capital project workload. Manage seven project managers and responsible for the successful transition of projects from design to construction.
Current projects include:

$870M Cates West Development (new, in design),
$600M Nuclear Teaching/Research Reactor (new, in planning)
$140M Dabney Hall Comprehensive Renovation (high-rise chemistry teaching and research)

Capital Project Management

Design Project Manager
Responsible for coordination among a diverse set of university stakeholders and with the design and construction leads for Capital Projects, typically with budgets in excess of $10M. Key management skills include consensus building, budget and schedule maintenance, and creating an atmosphere of free and clear communication among all of the project partners (designers, contractors, and university stakeholders, etc.).

Energy Management

Energy Program Coordinator
Responsible for identifying potential internal and external energy savings initiatives, establishing goals and metrics for success, developing stakeholder teams, implementation plans, and reporting results to the stakeholders, university administration, and the State Energy Office. Also responsible for overall layout, coordination, and writing selected sections of the Strategic Energy and Water Annual Report, submitted to the State Energy Office.

House Bill 1292 - North Carolina Energy Reinvestment Act:
Bill worked closely with the NC State Energy Office to demonstrate approximately $800k in utility savings projects which then was reinvested in future energy conservation measures (ECMs). NC State was the first state organization to apply for the reinvestment funds, and Bill created the templates and case study for future application by other state agencies.179d Energy Tax Credits:
Bill coordinated efforts with Schneider Electric on the 13-Building Performance Contract, which implemented ECMs on targeted campus buildings. The tax credits were created to provide additional incentives for the designers. Bill worked through the details among NC State Building Maintenance & Operations, Schneider Electric, and the third-party commissioning agent to successfully achieve the tax credits for Schneider Electric. Bill also served on the State Task Force to evaluate the State's position for future projects and implementation for the designer tax credit.
Progressive Design+Planning
Fuquay-Varina, NC
Architect/Owner
Responsible for business development, RFQ preparation, budget/schedule preparation, design (architecture and structural design, where appropriate), production and supervision of production staff. Projects included residential, light commercial, and medical office buildings. Staff included in-house production, interior designer, and contracted off-site production. Projects included leadership and coordination among owners, design consultants, general contractors, and local code officials.

Stick Boy Bakery, Fuquay-Varina, NC:
Implemented an innovative grease interceptor and provided a proof-of-concept to the local code officials to avoid sanitary sewer costs that would have stalled the startup business.Rainwater Collection System, Museum of History, Raleigh, NC
Developed plan and return on investment for a rain/reuse water collection system within the NC Museum of History Parking Deck which would provide irrigation water to the historic NC State Capitol Building.
